| A Bright Future: Before we look to the future, I would like to thank all those who helped make APWA’s joint Holiday Party with ASCE such a success! Nicole Moon and her events committee, along with all sponsors and attendees helped to raise more than $1,600 for St. Mary’s Food Bank. It was great to see everyone for the holidays and for our two special retirements (Donna Sullivan-Hancock from Tempe and Amanda McGennis from AGC). My sincerest appreciation to everyone who attended and for your commitment to St. Mary’s! Our committees have already been hard at work planning out 2023 and it is sure to be another exciting year! Here are a few highlights so you can mark your calendars: Southern Arizona Branch is holding their first annual Topgolf Tournament and Fundraiser, Wednesday, January 18th at 4050 W. Costco Drive in Tucson. Check-in is at 4:45pm with the event ending at 8:00 pm. January 18th is also our Chapter Meeting which will be held at the University Club with a Legislative update. I am happy to tell you that except for January and March, we will be returning to the Phoenix Country Club for our regularly scheduled meeting. Arizona’s 2023 Annual APWA Award submissions are due February 6th. Thanks to Chris Ewell and his committee, we have a more streamlined submission process! Arizona’s Statewide Conference is scheduled for July 26-28, 2023, at the El Conquistador in Tucson. A Call for Abstracts is out with a deadline of February 17th. March 9th’s Chapter meeting will be held in Prescott…not Phoenix. Our Northern Branch is working hard to get back to an active, viable status and this is our way of supporting them. Tim Sherwood with City of Prescott will be discussing their Water Supply project. Based on feedback we received, the Arizona Chapter has submitted our application for the 2027 National PWX conference. We should know what the National APWA Board of Directors decides sometime in August. This is an exciting opportunity for our members to attend a national conference, as well as for our community! Watch for future updates regarding PWX2027. We have so much more planned for 2023 and we hope you actively join us! Finally, let me take this opportunity to wish you all the best in the coming year. Thank you to each and every member and volunteer that has been committed to getting back to basics and becoming active. Here’s wishing that your lives are filled with good health, prosperity, happiness, and purpose.
