Last month, I gave a brief overview of APWA-AZ's Strategic Planning Goals and mentioned the many committees that help us achieve those goals. I did a disservice to those committees by not saying THANK YOU at least one thousand times in big bold letters. November is the time for us to remember what we are thankful for and when I think about what I am most thankful for, as it relates to APWA, I would have to say my thanks goes to all the people who make up our great chapter. So many of our members work very hard behind the scenes to help make APWA a better chapter for you. Our conference, newsletter, mixers opportunities, volunteer events, awards, and education outreach would not be possible without the numerous dedicated members who help pull it all together. If you are one of those amazing people, please give yourself a pat on the back and know you are appreciated!

I hope you all have a healthy and safe Thanksgiving!

Surprise Day of Service
APWA members joined the City of Surprise to help with the Surprise Day of Service event on Saturday, October 10th. Surprise Day of Service provides homeowners assistance with a variety of property maintenance services including but not limited to landscaping, painting and trash removal. The intent of the program is to assist low-income residents who cannot afford to fix the situation independently.

This year, our team helped clean the yard of a wonderful woman named Jennifer. Jennifer had cherished her once beautiful back yard, which unfortunately had deteriorated due to her lack of mobility. APWA volunteers spent the morning pruning and restoring her yard so she could enjoy it once again—our homeowner was very thankful!

Thank you to all of our volunteers!
