2017 APWA Statewide Conference

August 2 - August 4, 2017
 
 
The Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association invites the submittal of abstracts of presentations to be considered for the 2017 APWA Statewide Conference.  The conference will be held at the Hotel El Conquistador in Tucson, Arizona from August 2 to August 4, 2017. Abstracts must be received no later than February 24, 2017.
 

General Interest Tracks
We are putting together a dynamic program with topics that provide “take away” value to conference attendees and information that attendees can put to use in their organizations. We are especially interested in hearing from Public Agency Members as individual or panel discussion presenters.  The length of most presentation sessions, including a brief question and answer period, is 30 minutes.  Presentations involving panel discussions are also encouraged.  Multi- Member Panels and other special sessions can be up to 50 minutes in length.  All topics of interest to our Chapter membership, whether they are management, funding and financing, motivational, operational, career development, or technically oriented, will be considered.  Please feel free to propose on any topic you feel would be of interest to the attendees.

Earning and keeping public trust
Leadership examples
Meeting public expectations
Creative decision making
Marketing in the new economy
Staff resources, public and private
Cash flow management
Strategic planning
Innovative technologies or techniques
Interesting public works projects
Funding options for public works
Is the Great Recession still impacting our organizations?
Enterprise fund management and rate setting
Water Resources Management
                                               

Field Operations Track
The conference also includes a field operations track which will run concurrently with other conference breakout sessions. Suggested topics for the field operations track include the following:
  • Equipment or technology demonstrations     
  • Safety                                                                    
  • Training                                                                 
  • Street maintenance                                            
  • Landscape maintenance                                    
  • Other topics of operations interest
  • Pipe material issues
  • Water and wastewater treatment plant control
  • Odor control
  • Asset management
  • Pipeline maintenance

Schedule
Abstracts must be received no later than February 24, 2017. You will be notified by April 7, 2017 as to whether your abstract has been selected.


Abstract Format
The abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length and identify the following:

Title
Author/Presenter(s)
Address, phone number, email address
Summary of presentation key points
Proposed Length of Presentation: 30 min____ or 50 min____ or No Preference____
